05 - Seeking Solace by WhompyWhomperson 05 - Seeking Solace by WhompyWhomperson
"If there's nothing missing in my life, then why do these tears come at night?"

I know I've been slacking off with the 100 Theme Challenge, but school is finally over! I have time now!

So, theme number five is "Seeking Solace". So here's little Wanda making a reappearance based on my headcanon. Originally, it was adult Wanda, and the reason why she was seeking solace was due to her treatment in the fifth season. But I wanted to make something based on a headcanon I have about her childhood that I want to make into a fanfic some day.

So in my headcanon, Wanda was mentally abused by her mother when she was younger. Her twin sister, Blonda, was indeed her mother's favorite because she was a child actress (just like how her mom wanted her to be), but Wanda had no interest in it. Everyday, her mom would frequently ask why Wanda couldn't be "perfect like her other daughter". All throughout her childhood, Wanda's mom never seemed to give much thought to her. Luckily, her dad was able to make it up to her (since Wanda seems pretty close to her dad in the series).

As shown in "Big Wanda", Wanda's family seems to be really well-off. So I always saw Wanda as a "lonely rich girl". Her dad would get her everything she wanted, and she was also pretty popular at school (it's hinted in the series that she was popular in high school, so I applied it to elementary and middle school, too). But despite that, she was always overshadowed by her sister (in my headcanon, she was mainly popular only because she was "Blonda's sister", and was sometimes only referred to as such), and her mom never seemed to love her at all. She might have had everything, but she was lonely.

The song quoted at the top was "Lucky" by Britney Spears.

I really like this! Also, love the headcanon. Tell me if you make it into a fanfic someday!

Thank you! Yeah, I'm trying to work out some of the details for when I make it into a fanfic. I came up with the headcanon for Wanda's mom after hearing Wanda's "Mom always liked you best!" comment in "Blondas Have More Fun". I also noticed that while Cosmo is pretty willing to bring up events from his past, Wanda never does, making me wonder if she had a crappy childhood.

Also, Wanda's mom is dead in my headcanon (I know that fairies are immortal and Sparky mentions in "Fairly OddPet" that fairies can't die, but previous episodes have hinted that sometimes, fairies can indeed die. I'd take that over anything brought up in season nine). I'm still working out how she died, but it would've been around the time Wanda was just starting middle school. I know Cosmo says "I haven't been this scared since Wanda's mom moved in with us" in the second live-action movie, but I consider those movies as part of an alternate universe.
