Recess McDonald's Happy Meal Toysby *WhompyWhomperson

Here are my McDonald's toys from Disney's Recess! These were sold from December 25, 1998 to January 21, 1999. The toys replaced toys based on A Bug's Life, and were replaced by toys to tie-in with Mulan's VHS release. The toys were each linked to some kind of sport.

Along with the toys, a sweepstakes sponsered by Disney and McDonald's, "Be on Recess" was also featured. The winner got to appear in animated form on the show and won a trip to Disneyland, five first-place winners would each a Recess party at their house, while twenty-five second-place winners would each recieve a $1,000 savings bond. Morgan (Last name currently unavailible), the contest winner, appeared in season four's "The Rules" in 1999.

From left-to-right. The numbers next to each character are the numbers printed on their packages (I still own them)

T.J. Detweiler (#1) (Hockey) - Stands at roughly 3 inches and 8 centimeters. Unlike the show, his jacket is zipped up.

[Ashley] Spinelli (#2) (Baseball) - Stands at roughly 3.2 inches and 8 centimeters (This is counting the top of her hat). Her pigtails are longer than they are in the show and tied in the back instead of the sides. Her hair bands are colored the same color as her hair instead of red, and her tights are entirely orange (The stripes are still on).

Vince LaSalle (#3) (Basketball) - Stands at 3.5 inches and 8.5 centimeters. His wristbands are absent.

Gretchen Grundler (#4) (Tennis) - Stands at 3.7 inches and 9 centimeters. Her entire dress is baby blue instead of baby blue, pink, and white. Her pigtail bands are the same color as her hair. Her pigtails are tied on the sides instead of the back.

Gus Griswald (#6) (Golf) - Stands at 3 inches and 7.5 centimeters. His watch is absent.

Mikey Blumberg (#7) (Soccer) - Stands at 3.5 inches and 8.5 centimeters. And perfectly on-model, too.

Miss Finster (#5) (Kickball) - Stands at roughly 3.5 inches and 9 centimeters. On her package, she's labeled as "School Teacher". WTF?

I actually had some of these. My memory's a bit foggy since it was so long ago, but I'm pretty sure I had TJ, Spinelli, Gus, and Ms. Fins... uh, I mean "School Teacher" (oooookaaay?). In hindsight I'm surprised I didn't have more, considering how much McDonalds I ate as a kid.
