Isn't it neat?
Wouldn't you think my collection's complete?
Wouldn't you think I'm the girl
The girl who has everything?

The Little Mermaid is the twenty-eighth film in the Disney Animated Canon, released November 14, 1989, and was the official start of the Disney Renaissance (1989-1999), which unofficially began with Oliver and Company. TLM was the final film in the Disney animated canon to be animated with hand-painted cels; as they'd move on to digital coloring the next year with The Rescuers Down Under.

The story is about Ariel, the youngest of seven princess mermaid sisters, and the daughter of King Triton. Ariel is sick of being a mermaid, and would do anything to walk on land. This interest is fueled even more when she meets Prince Eric and saves him from shipwreck. Triton, however, doesn't approve of her with humans, however. Ariel then decides to see Ursula, the sea witch, in order to get human legs, but in exchange for her voice! Ariel then sees Eric, but before they fall in love, Ursula comes onto land disguised as a beautiful woman, and tricks Eric into thinking it's her! Will Ariel get her voice back in time?

Like many other people I know, I love this movie. I got the tape on Easter day, 1998, and became one of my favorite films.

The film has a great story, and I think it's better than the original Little Mermaid story.

I loved all the characters of the movie. Ariel has always been my favorite Disney princess. Eric is probably my favorite Disney prince. Sebastian is hilarious, and Flounder is adorable. Urusla has got to be one of the best Disney villians, along with Cruella De Vil and Scar.

The movie is beautifully animated, and has the feel the older Disney films had in the 1950s.

I love all the songs in the movie, and they're all very memorable. "Part of Your World", "Under the Sea", and "Poor Unfortunate Souls" are my favorites.

The film had several spin-offs. There was the TV series, which aired on CBS in the `90s, the sequel, which was released in 2000, and a prequel from 2008.

The film features the voice talents of Jodi Benson (Flubber), Christoher Daniel Barns (Spider-Man), Pat Carroll (Pund Puppies (1986)), Samuel E. Wright (The Lion King (Broadway)), Jason Marin (Rock-A-Doodle), Kenneth Mars (Young Frankenstein), Buddy Hackett (The Love Bug), Ben Wright (One Hundred and One Dalmatians), Rene Auberjonois (The Looney Tunes Show), Paddi Edwards (101 Dalmatians: The Series), Frank Welker (Animaniacs), and more...

Next week starts DisneyWeen month! So come with us and you will see, this our town of Halloween.
